FIRST-
TIMER

FANTASY / REALITY

You have imagined it. You have not met me.

You may have been thinking about this for years. Perhaps you have been thinking about me.

Leather. Boots. Restraint. Being watched. Being told.

You know what catches your attention. You do not yet know how it will feel when somebody else decides what happens next.

Now there is another mind in the room. I have always been more interested in what happens after fantasy loses its protective distance.

WHAT I NEED FROM YOU

Bring me the thing that keeps returning.

The image. The object. The situation. Tell me which part catches you.

You do not need the correct terminology. Include what you are uncertain about, and what you do not want. We agree what we will explore and your limits before play. You can ask questions, pause or stop throughout.

01

What do you keep imagining?

02

What makes you hesitate?

03

What must not happen?

FIRST CONTACT

Before anything is fastened.

There is already something happening between us. The unnecessary movement of your hands. The things you suddenly want to explain. How you react to being watched. I don't shout. I don't need to. You do not have to arrive knowing how to submit. I give you an instruction. You have something to do.

WHAT WE CAN EXPLORE

You do not need everything.

I have an obsessive relationship with restraint, ritual, machinery, discipline and the behaviour of bodies under pressure. Certain forms of restraint. The geometry of a body when movement has been reduced to almost nothing. I have built around these ideas. Altered things for them. Discarded perfectly serviceable solutions because they were not exact enough. We begin with what brought you here. I do not need to empty the equipment cupboard onto you.

01 / RESTRAINT

WHEN IT CLOSES

I like the precision of something being fitted correctly. The fastening is finished. You discover which movements remain possible. A restraint stops feeling decorative. Then there is the position I have given you, and the business of remaining in it.

02 / SENSATION

WHAT YOU FEEL

A boot you have been told to attend to. An implement you have agreed to try. You may have pictured the act in detail. There is also being watched while you receive it. Having to ask. Hearing my answer. The sensation is one part of meeting me.

03 / PERCEPTION

WHAT YOU CANNOT SEE

A hood. A mask. The sound of a lock being tested. You know what we have agreed. You cannot see what I am preparing. I have always liked the second before. A machine standing idle. Someone waiting while I decide whether I am going to use it.

WHAT CHANGES

The thing you did not expect.

The fantasy that brought you here may be exactly what you want again. Or it may remain a fantasy. Something you barely considered may have your complete attention. A particular restraint. Having to ask permission. The way I address you.

I remember particulars. I don't need you to become someone else for me. Quite the opposite.

  • What you want again.
  • What you do not.
  • What surprised you.

You’ve been watching long enough.

Offer yourself forward.
